Privacy and safety at TantraTribe

A community around tantra, intimacy and personal growth only works when people can trust the platform with sensitive parts of their life. This page explains, in plain language, what we protect, how, and where the honest limits are. The legally binding version is the privacy policy.

Your 1-on-1 conversations are end-to-end encrypted

Private 1-on-1 messages, including the photos and voice messages you send in them, are encrypted on your device before they leave it, using industry-standard cryptography (NaCl, Curve25519). The keys are derived from your password and never reach our servers in readable form. What we store is ciphertext: scrambled data we cannot read.

This holds everywhere the content travels. Notifications say that a message arrived, never what it says. The conversation list shows you a decrypted preview only on your own device. And when a conversation is reported to our moderators, the report references the messages without revealing their content: even moderation cannot read your 1-on-1 chats.

The flip side of real encryption is real responsibility: when you set up encryption you receive a recovery key. If you forget your password and lose that recovery key, nobody, including us, can bring your message history back. We consider that a feature, not a bug.

Tribe chats are shared spaces

Tribe (group) chats and event comment threads are conversations among the members of that space: everyone in the tribe or event can read them, and when someone uses the translation feature, the text is translated on request. Think of them as a conversation in a trusted room, and keep your most personal exchanges in 1-on-1 messages.

A few small things around 1-on-1 chats also sit outside end-to-end encryption; the full list is in the privacy policy. And like any messaging platform, we can see that a conversation happened, never what was said in it.

Your profile stays out of search engines

Everything behind your login, including profiles, chats, tribes and the community map, is excluded from search engines. Your profile is visible to community members according to your own visibility settings, and the optional share link only exists if you switch it on.

Data practices you can hold us to

We show no ads and we never sell your data. Analytics run only after you consent, are pseudonymous, and are hosted in the EU. You can export your data at any time (your encrypted messages are exported exactly as we store them: as unreadable ciphertext) and you can delete your account yourself in Settings.

Safety is a practice, not a checkbox

The platform is 18+ and every member agrees to community guidelines that put consent, respect and responsibility at the centre. You can block anyone, report behaviour that crosses a line, and reports are reviewed by human moderators with real consequences, up to removal. Events can declare their audience (such as women-only or gender-balanced tickets) so you know the setting before you book.

Common questions

Can TantraTribe staff read my messages?
Not your 1-on-1 messages: they are end-to-end encrypted, and we store only ciphertext. Tribe chats and event comments are not end-to-end encrypted, so treat those as visible within that space.
What happens to my messages if I forget my password?
If you saved your recovery key, you restore access and keep your history. Without it, a password reset means your old 1-on-1 messages stay permanently unreadable, for everyone including us.
Can my profile show up on Google?
No. Member areas are excluded from search engines, and your profile is only visible inside the community according to your visibility settings. A public share link exists only if you enable it yourself.
How do I delete my data?
Settings has both: a full export of your data, and account deletion you can trigger yourself. Deletion wipes your profile, removes your photos, and permanently destroys your encryption keys.
